Burglars strike locked house in Kusturba Nagar, steal Valuables and Cash

Udupi: About Rs 2 lakh worth gold and silver ornaments were stolen from a locked house belonging to Sathish Devadiga of Kasturba Nagar near Udupi between 4 to 5 am on April 1.

According to the police the family members of Sathish Devadiga had gone to Subramanya Temple on Saturday morning at 4 am. The burglary came to light in the morning around 8 am when neighbours of Devadiga found that the front wooden door was broken.

Neighbours immediately informed Sathish Devadiga through Phone and also informed the police. The culprits had decamped with gold and silver ornaments and cash kept in the cupboards after breaking them open.

The Udupi Town Police arrived along with the canine squad and forensic experts for investigations. A police officer on annonamity said that the culprits must have closely monitored the movements of the family members before committing the crime. The couple had left for the pilgrimage only at 4:00 am. Though the police have confirmed the incident they are yet to ascertain the cost of looted items.

A case has been registered in the Udupi town Police Station, and investigation is on.
