Cadaver Organ Retrieval (Organ Donation) done at A J Hospital
Mangaluru: Harinaksha M, 32 year old bus conductor from Mangilapadavu, Vitla, Bantwal Tq. was brought to A J Hospital on 31/12/2018 around 10.30 am after he had a fall from a bike on the same day morning around 6.30 am at Subramanya. Harinaksha had sustained head injuries, and he was declared brain dead on 2/1/2019.
Soon after learning the brain death, team at A J Hospital swung into action and approached Harinaksha’s family members for organ donation and the family agreed to donate organs without much delay. Organ retrieval process was started at 4.00 am on 3/1/2019. Retrieved organs have been distributed as per ZCCK directive. Liver & Heart valves taken to Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, one kidney to KMC, Mangaluru, Corneas to A J Hospital and one kidney is being transplanted at A J Hospital.
The A. J. Hospital ambulance with retrieved Liver and Heart valves left hospital premises at 7.30 am to Mangalore International Airport.
Harinaksha is survived by father Sanjeeva Poojary, an agriculturist, mother- a home maker and five siblings.
