Los Angeles, Nov 11 (IANS) Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner won the Transgender Champion award at Glamour’s 2015 Women of the Year Awards.

The 66-year-old, who was known as Bruce before her transition, won the award in a ceremony on Monday and her speech was a tribute to her family for standing by her, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“I’m so blessed I have family. Not one has abandoned me they’ve been supportive of me, it’s been great,” she said at the ceremony.

“When it comes to gender, everyone in this room is on a journey. We are constantly learning, growing as human beings, learning about ourselves. But there’s a segment of this population that when it comes to gender, there is mass confusion deep down inside,” she added.

Caitlyn shared how she explained her transition to her children, saying: “I sat each one of them down and said to them this is my story this is who I am – what can I do.

“I sat down with my pastor, talked to him, about my issues. And yes, I had a lot of conversations with God. And I came to the conclusion that you know what, maybe this is why god put me on this earth. To tell my story. To be authentic to myself about who I am and in doing that, maybe you can make a difference in the world.”
