‘Calling All Dalits to VOTE for Cong and NOT BJP’- Dalit Forum
Mangaluru: Lashing at BJP during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Banuchandra Krishnapura- President of Dakshina Kannada Dist Ambedkar Forum for Social Justice said, “Dalits have been fed up with the torture, atrocities, murders, hatred, Communal disharmony etc created by the BJP, and therefore we want to give them a befitting reply by calling all Dalits in the State to VOTE for Congress and stay away from Voting BJP. We will do all we can to see that BJP doesn’t come to power in the forthcoming elections. We all already started our door-to-door visits of dalits homes requesting them to NOT to vote for BJP in the May 12 assembly elections in the state.”
“Our intention to appeal to every Dalit group that not a single vote should be caste for BJP is because the BJP is completely casteist, communal and fascist. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to generate 20 million jobs every year but was now firing bullets at Dalits. The Dalits in this Country country will not forgive PM Modi. We will ensure that these fascist forces are thrown from the Nation, and our Karnataka State. Dalits must defeat this casteist and communal BJP. Regarding the Supreme Court order perceived by some as diluting the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, but it is a clear encroachment by the judiciary into the jurisdiction of Parliament” added Krishnapura.
Speaking further Banuchandra said“In India, there is an atrocity every 15 minutes.Considering the fact that every dimension of life in India is brutally distorted by the phenomena of caste, the apex court should have refrained from such statements, and should have definitely refrained from rewriting the Act. We do not justify violence. But we have seen every time people die in a clash during a protest, the majority will be dalits. This is an indicator of the feudal system we live in. Even though Prime Minister Narendra Modi has claimed that no previous government had respected BR Ambedkar as much as the current one, but we want to clarify PM’s point as to no other government has insulted Ambedkar more than His.We asked for jobs and Modi have given us bullets. Is this the Gujarat model we have to adhere to.”
“Since we are confident that Dalits would be treated much better under the Congress rule, and they have treated us well so far, we would humbly request all dalits in the State to caste their vote in favor of Congress candidates in their constituencies, and NOT vote for BJP, whatsoever. In the next few days, we will be doing extensive door-to-door campaigns at Dalits homes, and convey this message to them: added B Krishnapura. Other Forum members namely Janardhan C, Rajiva Kakkepadau, and Jaya V Sampoli were also present on the dais during the press meet.
Cong I vote banks include Muslims , majority of Christians and SC ST as well as backward caste people. Well, that was till few years ago.
Even now these factors play a dominant role. The voters need to look at the candidates and vote wisely.
