On November 11, students boycotted the classes and demanded to provide clean drinking water. The water which the students were drinking was sent to the KMC Hospital laboratory for testing on November 4. In the Microbiology test, a significant number of coliforms were detected in the water.

Denying the allegations by the students, Principal of Canara PU college Dr Prabha Kamath said, “The well water is not used for drinking purpose. From many days the cleaning of the well is being carried out. During cleaning work the cat might have fallen into the well and died. Today morning we came to know about the dead cat in the well. But students thought that the same well water has been used for drinking purpose in the college and boycotted the classes”.

Even if this has happened, I don’t think it has been intentionally done
