Cartoon, Sand Sculpture Festival on Drug Abuse Awareness draws Huge Crowd in Malpe Beach

Udupi: The Cartoon and Sand sculpture festival on Drug abuse awareness campaign at Malpe Beach, organized by Udupi district police, Udupi district working Journalist’s Association and Udupi Press Club in association with Udupi Press Photographers Association and Malpe beach development committee on Sunday, September 16, attracted a lot of people.

The Programme was inaugurated by well-known Cartoonist James Vaz by drawing a cartoon on the Board.

In his message, James Vas said, “In most of the cases, youth start to get attracted towards drugs just to satisfy their curiosity and to feel the effect, but then this small beginning takes them to the path of destruction of their life where they find it impossible to return,” he said.

Ravikanthe Gowda superintendent of Police Dakshina Kannada district who was the chief guest of the function said, “For some time, drugs may give a different kind of satisfaction, but that later turns into addition. Illicit drugs not only affect the physical and psychological health of individuals but have a far-reaching adverse impact on the whole society”. He urged the public to create awareness among the people in their villages or streets about the ill-effects of drug abuse.

Kundapur Assistant Commissioner Bhobalan in his message said, “Creating awareness on drug abuse is not only the responsibility of the government, the public also should join hands with them,” he said.

Udupi SP Laxman Nimbargai, district working Journalists Association Joint Secretary Michael Rodrigues, Udupi Press Club Convener Nagaraj Rao, UPPA president Janardhan Kodavoor, Malpe Beach development committee member Sudesh Shetty and others were present.
