Cashew Factory in Hirgana Catches Fire, Loss Estimated in Crores

Karkala: A major fire broke out at a Cashew factory near Hirgana, Karkal on August 25 morning. The whole factory, including two trucks, were destroyed in the fire.

According to the sources, the fire at the factory was noticed in the early hours. Fire brigades were called, soon after the incident. The fire department personnel took more than two hours to douse the flames and bring the situation under control.

As per the information received, workers who were inside the factory escaped unhurt as they ran out immediately after the fire broke out.

Short circuit in the wiring may have sparked the fire in the factory, the fire brigade sources said.
