Catholic Sabha and John D’Silva Foundation Felicitates Meritorious Students of Udupi Diocese

Udupi: Students should cultivate values in life and achievements and shape their lives,” said Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, the Vicar General of Udupi Diocese.

Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves speaking on Sunday after inaugurating the student scholarship distribution program organized by the Catholic Diocese of Udupi and the Mumbai-based John D’Silva Foundation at the Ambagilu Kakkuje Anugraha Pastoral Centre.

“Education is the culmination of the sacrifices of parents and students have achieved it. Values should not be neglected in every stage of life, and efforts should be made to build an ideal society. Students should set goals and work hard to achieve them, and strive for the betterment of society,” he said.

In his Keynote address, Valentine D’Souza DySP of Karwar said that Every individual has hidden talents that we need to identify and move forward to achieve progress. Progress lies behind talent. We should utilize the opportunities that come our way and move forward in life.

Under the auspices of the John D’Silva Foundation, Mumbai, the Pratibha Puraskar awards were distributed to students who scored the highest marks in SSLC and PUC examinations in the previous year.

Dr. Eltreen Vas, who achieved a PhD in Engineering, and CA exam achievers, Nikola Dias, Baindur, and Russell Martis, Shankarapura, were honoured. Program coordinator Dr. Gerald Pinto conducted a workshop for students on UPSC, KPSC and competitive exams. Catholic Sabha of Udupi Pradesh President Santosh Cornelio presided over the program.

The program was attended by chief guests John D’Silva, President of the Foundation, Gladys D’Silva, former Vice President of the Catholic Diocese Mary D’Souza, Treasurer Gerald Rodrigues, former Presidents Valerian Fernandes and Alphonse D’Costa.

Santosh Cornelio welcomed the gathering, Olivia D’Mello and Lloyd Noronha compered the program.
