Catholic Udupi Pradesh holds Mass Cleanliness Drive Across Diocese
Udupi: A mass cleanliness drive to keep the environment clean and healthy was organised under the leadership of the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh across the Udupi diocese on July 1.
The diocese level inaugural programme was held at St. John’s Evangelist Church Shankerpura, Pangla. Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh spiritual director Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves along with president Alwyn Quadros and past president Elroy Kiran Crasta formally inaugurated the programme by pouring watering the plant.
Alwyn Quadras president of Udupi Pradesh encouraged members and extended the message of cleanliness in their neighbourhood and stressed that it is the primary duty of all citizens, to keep their surroundings clean for a healthy life and healthy society.
“The mass cleanliness drive, united members of the Catholic Sabha along with other associations for a social cause which has now become a great priority across the country,” he said.
The members of 50 Catholic Sabha units of the Udupi diocese along with various associations like ICYM, Rotary, Lions Club, JCI, Yuvaka Mandala and other organizations joined hand with the mass cleanliness drive at various places as part of the ‘Swachh Abhiyan’. Under this drive Awareness talks, cleanliness drive Jatha and Vanamahothav programmes were also held at various units of the diocese.
