Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Paulose II lays Foundation Stone for Brahmavar Diocesan Centre
Mangaluru: The Foundation for Brahmavar Diocesan Centre at Kankanady, Mangalore, was laid on October 5, by the Supreme Head of the Malankara Orthodox Church, Catholicos H H Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, in the presence of H G Zachariah Mar Anthonios, Metropolitan – Kollam Diocese, the Diocesan Metropolitan, H G Yakob Mar Elias, J R Lobo, MLA- Mangalore South and other dignitaries.
The Centre will be built as per international standards, with a Church at the top, Bishop’s office, dormitories, guest rooms, and other offices in the lower floors.
His Holiness led the prayers and consecrated the foundation stone.
The event concluded with a formal stage function.
His Holiness said that though Brahmavar Diocese is one of the poorest and demographically having less number of people, it is vibrant with a mixture of various cultures and languages within the diocese. His Holiness further said that there is no doubt, that the project will be completed at the earliest.
J R Lobo, MLA Mangaluru City South constituency, said that there is a greater need for unity among all denominations, in the wake of growing threats and persecution.
H G Anthonios and many other dignitaries including members of MOSC council were also present.
Fr Kuriakose Thomas (Sunil Achen), Diocesan Secretary welcomed the gathering and Fr V C Jose delivered the vote of Thanks.
