CCB Police Arrest 4 in Ullal Tempo Driver Assault Case

Mangaluru: The CCB police have arrested four of the accused in connection with the Ullal assault case at Sullia Kallugundi here on July 12.

The accused have been identified as Jalal alias Jalaluddin (28), Arfan alias Appu (25) from Someshwar, Jaffar Sadiq (20) from T C Road Ullal and Muzambil (22) from K C Road.

According to the police, on July 11, Austin Nithesh Monteiro was unloading mud from his rickshaw tempo in a lane in Azad Nagar, Ullal. While unloading four persons in a black car got into a commotion with Austin demanding him to move his tempo at once. They then stopped their car in front of Austin’s Auto and assaulted him. Another occupant took a knife and stabbed Austin. When they were about to stab Austin on the chest, he fled from the spot. Injured Austin was admitted to Saroj Hospital in Ullal and a case was registered in the Ullal Police Station.

On getting all the information about the accused and the car they had used, the CCB police got into action. After getting reliable information about the accused who were fleeing towards Mysuru, the CCB police arrested all the four accused in Kallugundi, Sullia. The police also seized the Black coloured Maruti Alto Car bearing registration number KA 19 P 2360 and another Alto car bearing registration number KA 19 MD 5331 used for the crime. The arrested persons were handed over to the Ullal Police Station for further investigation.

Under the direction of Police Commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and Order Shantharaju, DCP Crime and Traffic Hanumantharaya and ACP CCRB Valentine D’Souza the operation was carried out by CCB inspector Sunil Naik, PSI Shyam Sunder and team.
