CCB police arrest Chain Snatcher, Recover Valuables
Mangaluru: The CCB police have arrested a chain snatcher from the Old bus stand here on January 4.
The arrested has been identified as Jeevan Poojary alias Jeevan Pint (33), from Irvathur Karkala.
According to the police, on March 29, when Poornima along with her family was returning home after visiting the temple at Adumaroli. While they were walking on the Bikarnakatta – Jayashree gate road at 9:00 pm, a person who was on the motorbike snatched the gold chain from Poornima’s grand Mother Appi’s neck and fled from the spot.
In this connection, a case was filed in the Kadri Police station. On January 4, after getting information that a man was trying to sell the bike and gold chain near old bus stand, the CCB police took him into their custody and recovered a gold chain valued at Rs 58,000, a mobile phone, Yamaha motorbike and a Honda Activa, all worth Rs 1,64,000. The recovered items were stolen by Mohammed Rafiq who is now in judicial custody and handed over to Jeevan to dispose of.
16 Cases have been registered against Jeevan in Karkala city, Moodbidri, Bajpe, Ullal, Kasargod, Manjeshwar police stations. 4 months back Jeevan was out on bail.
Jeevan was handed over to Kadri police for further investigation. The operation was carried out under the able leadership of CCB inspector Sunil Naik, PSI Shyam Sundar and team.
