CCB Police Arrest Two persons in Co-operative Bank Robbery Case
Mangaluru: The CCB police have arrested two persons in connection with an attempt to robbery case in Kotekar Agricultural Co-operative Bank at K C Road.
The arrested have been identified as Ramachandra alias Rama (57) from Someshwar and Mohan Kumar (47) from Kotekar.
According to Police, on June 23, at around 1 PM, two masked men entered the Kotekar Agricultural Co-operative Bank at K C Road. The masked men then threatened clerk Sudheer Ranjan and Ramachandra with knives and snatched the mobile phone from Bank Manager Manohari, they then put all of them in the washroom and locked the door from outside. Going to the strong room and stuffed the gold ornaments weighing around 20 kgs pledged to the bank into bags, pulled the shutter and were about to flee from the spot on the bike when bank staff Ramachandra hit the masked men with a stone. The bike rider lost control of the bike and fell to the ground. The masked men immediately fled from the spot leaving behind the bag containing gold ornaments. In this connection, the bank manager had filed a case in the Ullal Police Station.
The accused Ramachandra works in the Empire Mall as a security supervisor and his wife works as a director in the same bank. Another accused Mohan Kumar is the partner of Laxmi Transport company. Both the accused were facing loss in their business and had borrowed money from many people. They planned to rob the gold from the bank and sell it to clear their debt.
The police have recovered a Bajaj Pulsar motorbike from their possession.
Under the able guidance of Police Commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and Order Shantharaju, DCP Crime and Traffic Hanumantharaya, ACP Valentine D’Souza the operation was carried out by the CCB Inspector Sunil Naik, PSI Shyam Sundar and team.
