CCB Sleuths Arrest 3 Peddlers from Madikeri for Illegal Sale of MDMA Drugs

CCB Sleuths Arrest 3 Peddlers from Madikeri for Illegal Sale of MDMA Drugs

Mangaluru: Even after the Mangaluru City Police had a mammoth Drug Awareness walkathon recently when nearly 120 educational institutions with over 6000 students participated in it to STOP DRUG ABUSE/DRUG TRAFFICKING in DK and Mangaluru, it seems like the awareness message has not reached to the drug peddlers who have not stopped their illegal trade of ganja/drugs. Many social organizations and institutions have also raised awareness through various forms of activities, however, the drug menace continues in DK/Mangaluru, where CCB/police are busting such peddlers weekly.

In the recent arrest made by CCB sleuths three drug peddlers hailing from Madikeri were arrested, who were trying to sell Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly known as ecstasy or MDMA. The arrested accused are identified as Pramod (30) from Kohinoor, Madikeri taluk in Kodagu district, Mohammed Rasheed (41) from Shakti Prasad Residency near Convent Junction, Madikeri taluk, and Darshan (24) from Kadagadalu post and village in Madikeri taluk.

Based on reliable information, where the three individuals were peddling the illegal drug MDMA near Blue Star Lodge, Falnir Road, Mangaluru within the jurisdiction of the Mangaluru North Police Station, the CCB police swung into action and apprehended the culprits. The police confiscated a total of 15 grams of banned drug MDMA, valued at Rs 75,000, along with a digital weighing scale and mobile phones from them. The total value of the items seized is estimated at Rs 95,000.

As per police, the accused Pramod is reportedly facing multiple charges, including murder in the Sullia police station of Dakshina Kannada district, attempted murder in the Barke police station of Mangaluru city, as well as extortion and robbery cases in the Madikeri city police station. Mohammad Rasheed, another of the accused, has a robbery case registered against him in the Bhagamandala police station of Madikeri district, along with charges of murder, robbery, and extortion in the Madikeri city police station. Additionally, Darshan S is facing a case of attempted murder, registered in the Madikeri city police station.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Mangaluru city police commissioner Anupam Agarwal, DCP (Law and Order) Siddhartha Goyal, and DCP (Crime and Traffic) Dinesh Kumar, and the team led by ACP P A Hegde of the Mangaluru CCB unit.
