Celebrities to Grace ‘Muktha Tulu Film Awards’ on January 29

Udupi: “The official launching ceremony of the new TV  channel of coastal districts Muktha and the Tulu film award ceremony will be held on Sunday, January 29 at the Malpe Beach”, said the news head of the TV channel Srikant Shetty in a press meet held at the Channel office here on January 26.

Addressing the mediapersons, Srikant said, “Until now the channel was telecasting on a trail basis from Karwar to Kasargod district. The channel will give equal importance to news and entertainment programmes. The official launching will be held on Sunday at 4:00 pm with the presence of the peoples’  representatives, entrepreneurs, and other dignitaries.

On the occasion of the launching of Mukhta Channel, the management has also organized the Tulu film awards – 2016.

The film awards will be conferred in 25 different categories including two ‘Lifetime Achievement Awards’ and three special recognition awards. 13 Tulu movies released in 2016 will be considered for the awards. The awards categories include Best story, Screenplay, lyrics, playback singing, dance, best actor, best actress, best singer, and others. A panel of experts will judge the nominations and select the best performer in every category.

Three special recognitions, Popular Hero, Popular Actress, and Popular Joker awards will be selected through facebook voting. The Votes will be counted till the evening of January 29. Sundarnath Suvarna and K N Tailor who had tirelessly worked for the Tulu film industry will be posthumously conferred lifetime achievement award. Bhoja Suvarna, Dr Sanjiva Dandikeri, V J Pal and T A Srinivas will also be honoured on the occasion.

Twenty-two celebrities from Sandalwood and other fields including T N Seetharam (Director & Producer), B C Patil (Actor, Producer, Director), Ashok Kashyap, (Cinematographer, Producer, Director), Pannaga Bharana (Director), Diganth Manchale (Actor), Shruthi Ramakrishna (Actress), Shruti Hariharan (Actress), Dhananjay K A (Actor), Srushti B Patil (Actress), Vijaya Raghavendra (Actor), Raghu Dixit (Singer), Rajashri Ponnappa (Actress), Radhika Chetan (Actress), Dileep Rao (Actor), Raghu Mukherjee (Actor), Rekha Rani (Writer and Producer), Patla Sathish Shetty (Yakshagana Artist), Saanvi Shetty (Voice of India and NDTV), Advika Shetty (Dance India Dance L’ll Masters), Chitrali (Zee Kannada’s Drama Juniors) and Shravya S Rao (Yede Thumbi Haaduvenu) will grace the occasion.

Vivek G Suvarna managing director, Ashwath Kanchan, Saraswati Salian and Arpitha were present during the press meet.
