CFAL Adds Another Feather to its Cap as 14 Students Enter IInd Stage of International Level Olympiads

Centre For Advanced Learning (CFAL) Adds Another Feather to its Cap as 14 Students Enter IInd Stage of International Level Olympiads 2017-18 in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Astronomy, and Informatics

Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, Ms Severine Rosario, (coordinator) CFAL said, “Fourteen students undergoing training for JEE(Main+Adv) /NEET/KVPY / OLYMPIADS /NTSE training at Centre For Advanced Learning (CFAL), Kottara Cross, Mangaluru, have been selected to the prestigious second stage Olympiads leading to the international level. These students have proved that it is possible for students of Mangaluru to be in the top 1% of the country’s peers of their classes.

“These selected students are eligible to appear for the second stage of the examinations which will be held in the month of January/February. These examinations lead into international Olympiads. In mathematics, the selected students will attend a training camp at Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore in the month of January to prepare for the second stage of examination” added Ms Rosario.

Also speaking during the press meet, Vijay Moras (Coordinator) CFAL said, “There were no selections from Mangalore for Olympiads earlier. In 2009, for the first time three students of Mangalore were selected (2 in mathematics and one in chemistry). In 2012 our student Sunil Simha (Astronomy), in 2014 our student Sumith (Physics & Chemistry), in 2017 our student Adithya (mathematics), and in 2018 four of our students (Aditya& Aneesh (mathematics), Shreyas (Biology), Prathyush (Astronomy) were among the only 35 students selected per subject in the country to reach the prestigious third stage and had an opportunity to undergo orientation cum selection camp at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science education, Mumbai”.
“In 2018 Prathyush Poduval of CFAL has won the silver medal in International Olympiad for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) held at Beijing China. In 2017, our student Aditya Prakash was one among the six students who represented India in the International Math Olympiad held at Brazil. These are great achievements of students from Mangaluru. .National level exams like Olympiads and JEE help motivate students to strive for better and deeper understanding of scientific facts and data. It helps them to enhance their reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills. Above all, participating in Olympiad exams and representing one’s state or country at national and international level is a matter of great joy” added Moras.

The selected Students are: Shreyas V Pai ( XII- Biology); Agney Gautham Raj ( X- Biology); Vishnu Bharadwaj ( XII- Biology) ; Suraj S Samaga ( XII-Chemistry) ; Shravan Singh ( XII- Physics); Samarth Bhat ( XII- Astronomy and Mathematics); Koustubh Rao ( XI- Astronomy and Mathematics); Anmol J Shetty ( XI- Mathematics); Aditya Thomas ( X- Mathematics); Sathwik Acharya ( X- Mathematics) ; Rakshitha ( X- Mathematics); Dhruhan Shah ( X- Mathematics) ; Vishwas Adiga ( XII- Informatics); ANISH HEBBAR (Eligible because of attending IMO camp in April 2018) ( XII- Mathematics)
