CFAL helped Kenrick and Dhanush to bag Ranks in JEE
Mangaluru: Kenrick Xavier Pinto secured the 203 rank, while Dhanush Krishna got the 313 rank, both students of Centre For Advanced Learninf (CFAL)-Kuntikana-Mangaluru in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) 2016. After passing his Class 12 from Lourdes Central School, Kenrick, while Dhanush having passed his 10 at Presidency School, both had joined CFAL, and they were among the 38 students from the CFAL, who had qualified for the JEE Advanced. As many as 54 students were trained at the CFAL for the JEE.
Speaking to Mangalorean.com, Severine Rosario -the Programme coordinator at CFAL said, “A native of Moodbidri, Kenrick has been training at the CFAL since he was in Class 7. It is the interaction at the institute with students who have succeeded in the JEE that pushed him to aim to get a seat in a premier educational institution. He has also done well in various competitive examinations. He was ranked 2{+n}{+d} in the State in the National Talent Search Examination that earned him scholarship of Rs. 15,000 in Class 10. He has also done well in the Olympiads in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Astronomy. With a ranking of 16 in Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), Kenrick was also qualified for a seat in the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He has also qualified for admission to the Indian Statistical Institute in Bengaluru and for the Chennai Mathematical Institute, Chennai”.

After this great achievement, Kenrick speaking to Mangalorean.com said, ” I want to purse my studies in an IIT. I am waiting for the IIT where I can get a seat. I am yet to decide on the Indian Institute of Technology where I can pursue my undergraduate course. My aim is to become a physics researcher”. It is learnt that Kenrick Pinto is the younger of the two children of J.J. Pinto, the Principal of SNM Polytechnic in Moodbidri, and Tarina Pinto, a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, at the same institute. Kenrick’s elder brother Kenneth Pinto is doing his B. Tech at the VIT University in Vellore.
Dhanush Krishna
Regarding, Dhanush Krishna, he had also taking a serious note of the suggestion that he got from CFAL and opted to do senior secondary at the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). This helped him concentrate on preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination. With a JEE (Advanced) ranking of 313, Dhanush is hopeful of pursuing a basic sciences course at an IIT. After passing class 10 from Presidency School, Dhanush joined the Centre for Advance Learning in Mangaluru and prepared for the exams. He secured 93.4 per cent marks in the NIOS Board examination.
Severine Rosario, the Principal of CFAL speaking to Mangalorean.com about both these students said, “CFAL has been encouraging students to do their senior secondary at NIOS. In the North, there are colleges that grant attendance to students preparing for IIT, which is illegal. Choosing the NIOS route is far better. We at CFAL are proud of Dhanush and Kenrick on their achievements and wish him all luck in his efforts of pursuing their desired courses at IIT”.
