I have been appointed as the Chairman of the Media Academy. Being the chairman of the academy, I had organised a seminar to discuss the announcement of the Supreme court that a Defamation case is not a civil offence but a criminal offence and had invited the retired judge to address the seminar.
Siddaraju further said, “The Media academy has also introduced scholarship to students who are pursuing post graduation in journalism. They will be provided internship in leading Kannada dailies and during their internship, a scholarship of Rs 10,000 per month for 10 months will be provided, so that when they complete their internship they will be well experienced in their field.
Siddaraju also said, “I have written a letter to the Chief minister to hold interaction between the district minister in-charge and journalists in all the 30 districts in the state. Since the journalists are very much aware of the problems in the district than anyone else it will help the government to implement schemes successfully. Such an interaction will surely help the government in addressing the problems of particular regions and districts.”

Journalists spend all their earnings in educating their children and to help them settle in life. When they retire they are left without any funds. We Journalists need to be united in addressing our problems and getting the benefits from the government.
