Charred Body found in Dharmasthala, Police Arrest 6 in Suresh Murder case
Mangaluru: “On April 30, an unidentified male body was found in a charred state at Avakki, Dharmastala. In this regard, we checked whether there was any missing person’s case registered in any of the police stations. During the process, we found that Sajeev Naik has filed a missing person’s complaint in the Beltangady Police station. We called the complainant as well as the experts to the spot. Based on the material evidence Sanjeev Naik identified the body as that of Suresh. In this connection 6 persons have now been arrested”, said the SP of Dakshina Kannada Bhushan Borase in a press meet held at his office here on May 3.
The arrested have been identified as Vinay alias Jayaram Bangera (30), Marigudi, Anand alias Vasu Naik, (35) from Navoor, Praveen alias Shyam Naik from Belthangady, Lokesh alias Venkappa Moolya (34) from Bantwal, Prakash alias Shivappa Naik (31) from Belthangady and Nagaraju alias Babu Moolya (39) from Melanthabettu Belthangady.
Addressing the mediapersons SP Bhushan said, “When we arrested Vinay he revealed that on April 30, Suresh’s engagement was fixed but the accused was not happy with it and did not want the engagement to take place. On April 29, Vinay called Suresh to come to Ujire to collect information about the Ganga Kalyan scheme. When Suresh met Vinay in Ujire, Vinay took him in Nagaraj’s Maruti Omni KA 19 ME 5750 to Somanthadka – Dedupe road, The accused also took 5 liters of Petrol and a nylon rope along with them to kill Suresh. When they were travelling Vinay who was sitting on the back seat strangulated Suresh with the nylon rope. The body was then taken to a deserted area, filled in a sack and after pouring petrol was burnt”.
Borase also said that On April 30 his body was found on the Avekki road Patrame, Dharmasthala. We have arrested all the six accused and produced them before the court.
Under the able guidance of SP Bhushan Borase and Additional SP Dr Vedamurthy, the operation was carried out by the DySP Raveesh C R, Bantwal, Beltangady Circle Inspector Nagesh Kadri, Sub-inspector Ram Naik, Koragappa Naik Praveen M, Bennicchen, Venkatesh, Viju, Samuel, Paulose, Pramodh, Savitha, Divakar and Taranath.
