Child Prodigy Yayin Kiran Rai Wins ‘Sharjah Award for Education Excellence’
Abu Dhabi, UAE: Nine-year-old Yayin Kiran Rai, a grade 4 student of Bright Riders School, Abu Dhabi has won the prestigious “SHARJAH AWARD FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE “ in the 24th cycle, for the year 2017-2018. He is also the recipient of the prestigious ‘SHEIKH HAMDAN AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED STUDENT’ for the year 2016-2017 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Yayin is the son of Dr Kiran Kumar Rai and Supriya Rai who presently are residing in Abu Dhabi, UAE. He is the grandson of Mijar Guttu Vishwanath Rai, Kidiyoor Badagumane Indira V Rai and Muttikal Shivanna Babu Shetty, Inna Barimar Pramoda S Shetty. Yayin was born and brought up in Abu Dhabi UAE. He not only excels in academics but also in various extra-curricular activities. He has been awarded the Scholar Badge by the school and is also elected as the House Prefect for the school ’s primary section. His main talent is Athletics and to develop his talent he is taking coaching from a personal trainer. His role model is Usain Bolt and his dream is to represent his country in Olympics.
In athletics his main areas of interest are running, long jump and shot put. He has won many international and national level athletic events. He came second in the 1 km race at the ITU World Triathlon event held in March 2017. He has won many prizes in UAE Open Athletic event conducted by India Social And Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam, Kerala Social Centre, Ultimate Athletic Championship And BlueStar Inter UAE Sports Festival. He was declared the Champion in the ISC UAE Open Athletic Meet for 2 consecutive years.
Yayin is a student of UCMAS. His interest in Mathematics has helped him win various competitions; he was declared the Champion in his category at the 14th and 15th National UCMAS Competition. He has been taking training and coaching in swimming, drawing and dancing. His liking for these skills has helped him bag many prizes. He is a good orator and his public-speaking skills have helped him win many accolades at inter-school and national level recitation and elocution competitions.
Apart from his extra-curricular activities Yayin also devotes a lot of his time for environmental activities and charity. He is an active member of Emirates Environmental Group and Green Hope. He has participated in various recycling, tree planting and mangrove cleaning campaigns. He has also attended many environmental conferences and workshops. He has participated in various charity events during Eid, Ramadan and Earth Day.
