Choose Competent Candidates for Local Elections: Minister Jarakiholi Advises Udupi District Congress

Udupi: The Zilla and taluk panchayat elections are approaching in the state. It is crucial to select capable candidates, keeping reservations in mind. The Minister of Public Works, Satish Jarakiholi, advised the Udupi District Congress to consider the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition candidates while planning for the elections.

Visiting Udupi district for the first time since becoming a minister, he addressed the district Congress executive committee meeting at the district Congress office in Nayarkere.

He emphasized that the party can only strengthen if its workers are continuously engaged with the party, not just during elections. He assured that he was aware of the district’s issues and would strive to resolve them as soon as possible.

He noted that due to some government grants being directed by local legislators, the lack of party legislators in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district has caused inconvenience to party workers. He suggested that electing an MLC from the district could help resolve these issues.

KPCC Campaign Committee President and former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake mentioned that with local body elections approaching, candidates should be selected after reviewing reservations. He stated that if all our workers work unitedly, the party’s past glory will surely return.

Former MP K. Jayaprakash Shetty highlighted the importance of forming core committees and distributing responsibilities for the party’s growth. He suggested these committees hold meetings with various departmental officials in different areas to ensure the proper implementation of guarantee schemes.

District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavoor welcomed attendees and gave introductory remarks. KPCC Vice President M.A. Gafoor and leaders B. Bhujang Shetty, Neere Krishna Shetty, Muniyalu Udayakumar Shetty, Prasad Raj Kanchan, Ramesh Kanchan, Kiran Hegde, Suresh Shetty Bannanje, Mahabal Kundar, Ismail Atradi, and Dr. Sunita Shetty also spoke.

The event was attended by City Authority President Dinakar Herur, Veronica Cornelio, Raju Poojary, Harish Kini, Malyadi Shivaram Shetty, Dinesh Puthran, Naveenchandra Suvarna, Shubhod Rao, Dinesh Hegde Molahalli, Jyoti Hebbar, Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, Sarfuddin Sheikh, Ermal Anand Poojary, Sandhya Tilak Raj, Abib Ali, Divakar Kundar, Lakshan Poojary, Sheikh Waheed, among others.
