Christian Community of Udupi greets Muslims on Eid
Udupi: On the occasion of the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr by the Muslim community, the office bearers of the Catholic Sabha of Udupi Diocese conveyed their greetings to the community by visiting Jamiya Mosque and offering saplings to them.
Speaking on this occasion, Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, the Spiritual Director of the Catholic Sabha, Udupi Diocese said that in India everyone should live in harmony, know each other’s religion and share the joy and happiness of each other’s festivals by visiting their religious places thus, safeguarding communal harmony which is the need of the hour.
In his reply to the greetings from Fr. Ferdinand Gonslaves, member of the Jamiya Mosque Mohammad Moula said that in order to safeguard the unity among communities, the members of the Catholic community shared their joy with the members of the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr feast. He further said that mutual respect and harmony among communities would enable India in particular and the world in general to shed the scourge of terrorism and create a society of peace and harmony.
On behalf of the Catholic community of Udupi Diocese, Fr. Ferdinand Gonslaves felicitated Maulana Rasheed Ahmed Nadhvi, the chief of the Jamiya Masjid, Udupi. Muslim brethren shared the joy of the feast with their Catholic counterparts by distributing sweets.
