Later speaking at a Congress party workers meeting Dinesh Gundu Rao said that demonetization has destroyed the economy, people are in distress. Narendra Modi has announced demonetization scheme to put him on the safer side as his promise on bringing back black money will adversely affect him. The rich are not facing any issues while the poor are struggling. Congress volunteers are reaching out to the people and assisting them.

Narendra Modi has been talking about fighting black money, eradicating corruption for a while now. How far has it been successful? he questioned. Those who have black money will not fall into the trap so easily. But, the poor and middle-class people are affected. Modi, who announced the demonetization of currency notes to control black money, should explain what action he has taken against his party leaders, who are accused in corruption cases, he said.

Unrest in Kashmir valley and killing of soldiers by Pakistan has continued even after the surgical attack by the Indian Army. Modi, in an effort to divert the people’s attention, has made an abrupt and sudden decision to scrap currency notes, he added.

The Congress is preparing for the 2018 Assembly elections by organising district-level meetings and conventions across the State. The Party workers should present the development works and achievements of the State government and highlight the Union government’s failures, he said.

The programme will be used to connect the younger generation with the ideals of Indira Gandhi and woo them to the party. Indira Gandhi’s achievements would be publicised in every village in the State during the year-long celebrations.
