CIL Fest 2019 Marks Beginning Of Decennial Celebrations

 

Mangaluru: Centre for Integrated Learning, a city-based NGO launched its decennial celebrations CIL@10 with the organising of CIL Fest 2019, an inter-school literary and cultural event in association with Lions Club Mangalore at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte in the city on February 2.

Over 250 students from about 15 schools participated in the day-long event which featured various mind skill competitions like Jest A Minute (JAM), Dumb Charades, What’s The Good Word, Tom Dick or Harry, Spell It along with Extempore, Quiz, poster making and thematic Dance. The event was inaugurated in a unique manner by unveiling the Overall Trophies by Mangalorean Swimming sensation, national record holder in Swimming Federation of India Games and medalist at the recently concluded Khelo India Youth Games, SR Rachana Rao.

Launching the decennial celebrations of CIL, Chairperson of Aasare Charitable Trust Dr. Ashayothi Rai stressed the need for moving beyond academics and internalize the strengths and aptitude that we have to groom ourselves into effective individuals. One is successful in the true sense if he or she dares to deviate from the beaten path and choose to do something different, she remarked. Dr. Rai also launched the official website www.cilmng.org.

President of Lions Club Mangalore Vijaya Vishnu Mayya exhorted the students to build a strong character and personality which will enable to make a difference in the society. Executive Director of Centre for Integrated Learning, Sachitha Nandagopal welcomed the gathering. Ahima Shetty compered and proposed the vote of thanks. President of Lioness Club Mangalore Jyothi Shetty, Lions Secretary Hema Rao, Treasurer Manohar Shetty were present on the occasion.

Director of MIFT College M G Hegde delivered the valedictory address and distributed the prizes. St. Theresa’s School, Bendore bagged the overall Winner’s trophy while the Overall Runners-Up trophy went to Amrita Vidyalaya, Bolur.
