Mumbai: Fusion Rock band, InRegalia will be supporting Muktangan, a charitable institution dedicated to the education of underprivileged children, at the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2015. The band will perform at Muktangan’s cheering zone during the upcoming marathon on Sunday January 18th.
“We’re privileged to support Muktangan at their cheering zone at Marine Drive in the upcoming Mumbai Marathon” says Warren Swaries, drummer for InRegalia. “As a band we’ve brought our unique style and brand of music and entertained audiences all around our city. An organization like Muktangan has been a blessing for underprivileged kids for the last decade and it’s a cause we stand for.” says Swaries.
Muktangan is an innovative model of education located within mainstream Government schools providing quality, child-centred, inclusive English-medium schooling to thousands of underprivileged children in Mumbai. It integrates school and teacher education and all of this is offered free of cost.
Started in 2003, its community-based, inclusive, child-centered methodology has evolved into a pedagogical resource center that includes 7 English-medium Municipal schools and a teacher education center which acts as a hub for research and innovation in education. Muktangan currently has 2900 children studying in schools, all of them taught by community teachers mainly marginalized women who have undergone a uniquely designed teacher education program. “We’re stoked to help boost Muktangan’s fund raising efforts and kick start a great relationship and what better place to start than the upcoming Mumbai Marathon.” adds Swaries.
