City Police Gears up for Peaceful Polling on May 12 – CP Vipul Kumar

Mangaluru: “The city police are gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections which will be held on May 12. Four constituencies come under the Police Commissionerate, they are 201, 202, 203 and 204. Our police officers along with the revenue officers have visited all the above constituencies and checked for vulnerability and criticality. We are categorizing booths that are critical and non-critical. Accordingly, we have now identified 201 critical booths out of the 877 booths. Rest of the 676 booths have been identified as non-critical. Police security arrangements have been divided into three parts they are pre-poll, for the polling day and post-poll. We assure that the polling will be peaceful”, said the Police commissioner Vipul Kumar in a press meet held at the Compol here on May 8.

Addressing the mediapersons Vipul Kumar briefed on the security measures taken by the commissionerate for the smooth and peaceful polling on May 12.

1) City Limits consists of four (4) Legislative Assembly constituencies (LAC ) 877 booths
• 201- Moodbidri — 221 Booths
• 202-Mangaluru North -245 Booths
• 203- Mangaluru South -238 Booths
• 204-Mangaluru -173 Booths (37 Booths belong to Bantwal Tq)
• 201 Critical booths have been identified and 676 are normal booths.
2) A total of 26 Check Posts are Functioning out of which 6 are Inter-state Border check Posts (Karnataka-Kerala Border).
3) 14 flying Squads and 12 Static Surveillance Teams are functioning.
4)11 Companies of CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) are deployed for the 4 LAC’s.
5)Around 2700 Men and Officers (CAPE CIVIL POLICE. ARmed POLICE & Home Guards) are deployed for the Assembly Elections -2018 bundobust duties.
6) 1908 Weapons have been deposited by the gun license holders.
7) 753 Security Cases have been booked in the wake of Assembly Election 2018.
8)2756 Rowdy Sheeters are under surveillance & 90 Potential troublemakers are under surveillance.
09) 2 Cases of illicit liquor raids

10) One (1) Case of Illegal arms raid
11) 4 Detenues booked under Goonda Act
12) 6 Externment Orders have been passed against trouble mongers
13) 13 Criminal Cases have been booked during the Election Code of Conduct
• 8 cases of seizures by flying squad and Police Team. (Rs 3 lakh cash; flex; BJP party shawls; sound box; DVD player; car)
• 5 cases of MCC and RP Act violation
14) Excise ban order (dry days) by DC and DEO, Dakshina Kannada from May 10, 2018, 6-00 PM onwards to May 12, 2018, 6.00PM
15) Ban Orders under Section 144 Cr.PC Promulgated across Dakshina Kannada District from May 10, 2018, 6-00 PM to May 13, 2018, 6.00 PM
16) Ban Orders under Sec 144(1) Cr.PC ( Fairs, Festivals, animal markets etc.) on May 12, 2018 (voting day) at following places in the city limits
• Bikarnakatte —Kaikamba Varada Santhe (weekly market)
• Mulki Town Panchayath Limits- Karnad weekly Market. 17)
17) 206 Route Marches have been conducted across the city by 11 CAPF Companies.

DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya and DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth were also present.
