Clap…Clap? Fake Transgenders Thrashed by Public for Theft
Mangaluru: These are a gang of five women hailing from Maharashtra, always loitering around Kankanady Pumpwell and around that vicinity- and they always disguise as Transgenders, with their signature act of “clapping”, thereby demanding/begging for money. These women pretend to be transgenders to gain the sympathy of commuters and earn money. Police are trying to investigate to find out if they are a part of any organised racket. These women have also been involved in some stealing from the public here and there for the past so many days but never got caught. But for three of these impersonators/fake transgenders – they were out of luck when they tried to steal a purse containing about Rs 1000 in smaller denominations, and also a mobile phone from an innocent young lady.
As per the details given to Team Mangalorean, Arun, the Uncle of Sunitha (Name changed) a beautician by profession, where he said, “Sunitha after her work at the beauty parlour was waiting for the bus near Bendore-well circle (going towards Kankanady Pumpwell). Three women disguised as transgenders, clapping their hands approached Sunitha and begged for money. When Sunitha was reluctant to offer them any money, one of the fake transgender grabbed Sunitha’s purse, and emptied the cash into their purse, and threw Sunitha’s purse on the ground. They also tried to snatch Sunitha’s mobile phone, but she managed to get it back”. Quickly all the tree women disappeared from the scene”.
“Sunitha in tears quickly rushed to her Uncle Arun’s house which was just a few minutes from Bendore-well, and Arun quickly got into action, along with locals to find these women thieves. And within no time, two out of the three women were caught by the public opposite to Mak Mall- and were thrashed left and right for their act of theft. Unfortunately, the money that was stolen was not in the possession of these two women- probably with the third woman who was involved in the theft. After being caught, the two women were acting very innocent, thereby arguing with the public that they never stole the money. But the public didn’t heed to their excuses, instead gave them a few beatings. In the meantime, SI Maruti Naik from Kadri East Police station arrived at the spot, and took both the women in custody, and transported them to the police station.
Later, yet another woman from this gang of thieves was arrested by the police, and taken to the police station. These three women will be produced before the judge today (Nov. 26), and further investigation is on to nab the other two women thieves. Public are warned not to give any money if you suspect women in disguise, who are con artists trying to spoil the image of the good transgenders.
