Cloistered Carmel nun Sr Piedade Pronounces Her Final Vows
Vasco: Sr Piedade Mary of the Eucharist, a Cloistered Carmel nun made her final profession by pronouncing her vows of Chastity, poverty and Obedience in the hands of Mother Prioress Sr Jacinta Mary of the Passion at the Eucharistic celebration held at the Cloistered Carmel chapel on 20th November 2016 at Chicalim. Fr Archibald Gonsalves OCD, Superior of the Carmelite Monastery Margao presided over the Eucharistic celebration.
Delivering the homily at the Eucharistic celebration, Fr Archibald Gonsalves OCD compared religious consecration to the consecration of Jesus on the Cross. “The vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience are the prototype of Jesus who is pure, poor and obedient.” He said further. Recalling the recent event of the canonization of the St Elizabeth of Trinity, he said that Cloistered Carmel Chicalim under the patronage of the Holy Trinity in its unique way built bridges of spiritual relationships with the clergy, religious and the laity of the Archdiocese. He appealed the faithful to continue their works of mercy and give witness to Jesus.
Br Malvino Alfonso OCD, was the commentator for the liturgical celebration while Fr Cannio Cardozo OCD was the liturgical animator for the celebration. Fr Archbald Gonsalves OCD wished Sr Piedade on behalf of the Karnataka-Goa Province of the Discalced Carmelites. Sr Jacinta OCD, Prioress of the Cloistered Carmelite Monastery Chicalim delivered the vote of thanks.

Sr Piedade Mary hails from Cavorim–Cavotem, Chandor and is the daughter of Late Francis and Santana D’Cunha. She is the 7th child in the family among four sisters and three brothers. She entered in the Cloistered Carmel on 10th February 2011 and began her Novitiate from 15th August 2011. She made her first profession on 29th November 2013. She will serve the Cloistered Carmel Community as an extern nun.Cloistered Carmelite nuns are spread all over the world. There are 35 Cloistered Carmel Monasteries in India. 72 Goans Cloistered Carmelite nuns are serving the Lord as contemplatives all over the world.
