CM and PM should be ashamed of Farmers committing Suicide – Poojary
Mangaluru: “In Mandya farmers attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison. This is an insult to our state and country. The CM of Karnataka and the PM of our country should be ashamed of the farmers committing Suicide. The Chief Minister should stop blaming the Union government to waive the loan. Let Siddaramaiah take the initiative and waive the loan of farmers and announce the support price. If Siddaramaiah and PM Modi cannot waive the loan of the farmers let them resign from their posts”, said senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary in a press meet held at the Press Club, Urwa here on June 13.
Addressing the mediapersons Poojary said, “The farmers of the country are requesting to provide minimum support price. The CM is neglecting the farmers and blaming the centre. If such a situation continues in the state, Congress will not come to power in the next elections”.
Poojary further said, “Siddaramaiah is in deep slumber, he has failed to provide justice to the farmers. When I was the minister I had waived the loan of farmers. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP CM along with the farmers have protested, even in UP, the government led by Yogi Adityanath have assured to waive the loan of farmers. Then why does the Karnataka CM hesitate to waive their loan? It is not a question of BJP, JD(S) or Congress party but of humanity. If CM Siddaramaiah announces the minimum Support price and waives the loan of farmers, he will be a model CM for the rest of the country. If not Poojary will call press meet every day and target Siddaramaiah”.
When asked about the MLA of Mangaluru North constituency printing his photograph and the list of his achievements on the books he has distributed to the students for which the opposition protested, Poojary said, “I am not against the distribution of books to the students. Many students need books because their parents cannot afford. Printing photos on the books is to make the students know who the MLA is since he thinks no one has seen him”.
