CM Siddaramaiah orders Investigation into Authenticity of Parasurama statue in Karkala: Manjunath Bhandary

Udupi: Legislative Council member Manjunath Bhandary said that the Chief Minister has ordered an investigation and submission of a report by the Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department on the illegality of the Parashurama Theme Park at Umikal Hill in Karkala Taluk, which was built during the last BJP government and was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister.

Speaking at a press meet held at the Press Club on November 20, Manjunath Bhandary said that Sadashiva Devadiga, president of Karkala Block Congress, had drawn attention to the illegality of the Parasurama theme park and had written to the party’s state president, chief minister and MLC to investigate the matter.

Further Bhandary said that because of the complaints and doubts expressed by the public about the authenticity of the Parashurama statue in newspapers and social media. Various local organizations, including the Congress Party of Karkala, protested against Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar and demanded the Tourism Department and the government to investigate the matter.

Based on the request of the Block Congress President, on November 15, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered the Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department to conduct an investigation and submit a report on the Parasurama theme park.

Former Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the government has also ordered to conduct a detailed investigation on the Brahmavar Sugar Factory Scrap disposal scam.

District Congress President Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Congress Leaders Prasad Raj Kanchan, Dinesh Hegde, Uday Kumar Shetty, Krishna Shetty, Vishwas Ameen, Deepak Kotian, Harish Kini, Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor and others were present.
