CM Siddaramaiah, You Have 2 Options – Poojary

Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary held a press meet at the District Congress office here, on June 1.

Addressing the mediapersons, Poojary said, “For the first time in the history of the state, police personnel are planning a protest by taking mass leave on June 4. Their demand is to increase in their salaries. Chief minister Siddaramaiah has said that the police are disciplined soldiers, there should not be any room for indiscipline and that if there is any kind of protest by the police, the government will take serious action against them. Even the cabinet ministers have said that policemen do not have the right to protest.”

“The police are also human beings. They have families and they have to take care of them. Did the CM visit them and inform them about how much he would increase their salaries? Has any representative, IGPs or DIGs, met the CM? Even if the CM meets and discusses the issue with higher police officials, what can you expect them to say? Their stomachs are full. They have servants to wash their legs. Let the CM meet the police constables because they are the most deprived and neglected ones in the department. Discussing the matter with only the higher-ups is not enough,” said Poojary.

He further said that the Kadur police have written a letter to the Governor of Karnataka that they will commit suicide along with their family members if they will not be given leave on June 4. “If the police in Kadur will commit suicide, CM Siddaramaiah’s name will be written in bold letters in the history of Karnataka as well as in the entire country for being responsible for it. To avoid such incidents from happening, the CM has two options. He should go and meet the lower ranks of the police force and discuss their problems. He also needs to convince them not to take leave on June 4 and promise to fulfill their demands. Let the CM meet the finance ministers of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, and discuss the remuneration of the police in their respective states and adopt the same method in Karnataka. Kerala is not a rich state, and if they can afford to pay more salary, then why is the Karnataka government not increasing the salary of lower rank policemen?” he questioned.

Poojary urged the CM to meet the lower rank police force and convince them to withdraw their protest on June 4.

Poojary also said that the CM has been threatening to arrest the police force if they protest, but does the CM have the right to arrest the police? “Police are the ones who protect us when our lives are at risk. Instead of threatening to arrest them, show humanity towards them and fulfill their demands. I know what is poverty. Police constables lead a miserable life. The problem will not be solved by only holding talks with DIGs or IGPs because they get whatever they want, so they do not know the problems the lower rank policemen face. If you go and stay with the police constables you will understand their problem,” he said.

Modi’s Achhe Din

Speaking of the Modi-led union government, Poojary said, “Before coming to power, Modi assured to bring ‘Achhe Din’. Where are the ‘Achhe Din’? Petrol and Diesel prices are being hiked. The service tax has also been increased to 15%, while gas cylinder price has been hiked by Rs 21. Mr Modi, is this called ‘Ache Din’?”

Poojary further said that during the election speeches Modi said that terrorists have increased on the borders and they kill Indian soldiers, but recently more than 20 soldiers were killed in a huge fire at a large ammunition depot in Wardha. “After Modi came to power, have soldiers not been killed on the borders? When 20 soldiers were killed in the ammunition depot, Modi failed to provide safety to the soldiers.”

Yettinahole Project

“Former CMs Veerappa Moily and Sadananada Gowda have challenged to divert the Yettinahole. Being born in Dakshina Kannada district, Veerappa Moily and Sadananda Gowda are adamant on completing the Yettinahole river diversion project. When there was a water crisis in the district, did Moily or Sadananda Gowda come to meet the people? Moily and Sadananda Gowda, do not speak like Modi,” said Poojary.

Arun Coelho, T K Sudheer, former deputy Mayor Purushotham Chithrapur and others were also present.

Dear Jananna

You are misleading people. I thought you belong to Cong but you are criticising Siddanna. You are not allowed in BJP as you cannot see ache din. With regards to Petrol, Diesel and gas prices they are internationally controlled.
