CM Waives Fishing Communities loan of Rs 60.58 Cr- Will Fish Prices be Cheap Now?
Mangaluru: After announcing sops for farmers and weavers, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has extended loan waiver to fishermen of the three coastal districts in the State. This is set to benefit about 23,507 fishermen. After sailing through the trust vote on Monday, CM Yediyurappa, who held a Cabinet, decided to waive outstanding loans amounting to Rs 60.58 crore for 2017-18 and 2018-19. These loans were taken at a rate of 2% from commercial and regional rural banks. A note said fishermen, especially womenfolk, were eligible for a loan of up to Rs 50,000, which had to be cleared in 24 months. The loans were taken for fishing equipment, capital infusion and food processing.
Now that the CM has waived a huge sum of pending loans of the fisher-folks, will there be any chances that fish lovers of Kudla could look forward to lower prices on fish, which at the moment is outrageous- Maybe or Maybe Not?
Any politician that does a loan waiver must be held personally liable to pay it back to the bank. Attach all their assets.
