CMC Chief Meenakshi Bannanje inaugurates Udupi Utsav
Udupi: The two-month long Udupi Utsav was inaugurated at the Royal Garden Kalsanka here on Friday, November 25.
Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje president of Udupi City Municipal Council symbolically inaugurated the Udupi Utsav by lighting the lamp.
Sandhya Kumari vice president CMC, Shobha Suresh Kakkunje president standing committee, Yuvaraj former president CMC, D Manjunathaiah commissioner, Gowtham Agarwal director National Consumer fair, Sathish Ameen Padukere president Udupi Block Congress, Jayashree Krishnaraj member KPCC and others were present.
The expo represents the rich cultural ethnicity of the land by giving impetus to a variety of handicrafts. The expo consists of 150 stalls, entirely focused on ethnic and traditional artefacts of the area. Most of the stalls are filled with consumer items. Handlooms, handicrafts, Jaipur bangles, fancy stationery, jute bags, food items, terracotta products and other items are displayed. The major attraction of the Utsav is the Selfi Gallery which is introduced for the first time in the Country. It will be an attraction for the youth and children.
The stalls are set up by various departments and small entrepreneurs. The Utsava has Torra Torra and Jungli Jacko among a number of others which will provide entertainment for the visitors. Parachute towers, striking cars, rangers, giant wheel, Columbus, fizbee, water amusement like rowing the boat etc are also part of the show. The Consumer Fair has also been set up in association with the National Consumer Fair, Bengaluru.
