Coastal Delight 400 km BRM Delights the Riders
Mangaluru: Set all along the Arabian coast from Mangalore until Goa, this BREVET saw the best riders Harivijay the young prodigy on the block, the seasoned Dhanraj Karkera and the Iron Man finisher Sridhar Srinivasan getting back on the wheels to test the waters.
Many other riders gave this popular Brevet, a miss but not before pledging their support for the meaningful cause of sustainable living for all by actively getting involved in the Saksham Cycle Day organized by MRPL in association with team WE R Cycling on 19.
The event was flagged off around 6.30 am by our own cyclist Shyamprasad Nayak from Taj Cycles Kankanady. Few of the riders on the morning ride routine accompanied the rides until Control Point 1 near BC Road!! While Hari and Dhanraj had set an insane target of 20 hours to finish the ride, the calm and composed Sridhar was so meticulous that he had broken down the entire ride into a control pointwise target.
With most of the construction work on NH 66 getting over, the journey from Mangalore to Goa was as smooth as ever it can get. As the day progressed, the boys were crossing the control points one after the other, well within the CP timings. All 3 riders completed the event with ease, while the first 2 warriors finished the ride at 2.30 am and the 3rd around 8 am, well before the cutoff time.
Team, WE R Cycling congratulates all the riders and thanks to all the volunteers, supporters and well-wishers in making this event truly the best in its class!!
BREVETS DE RANDONNEUR MONDIAUX (BRMs) are rides of fixed distances that are to be completed within specified time limits, having successfully passed through pre-determined time controls. The recognition is equal regardless of finishing order! Each rider, who finishes the event within the cut-off time is awarded a certificate and a medal from Audax Club Parisien (ACP), world’s oldest cycling club. Moreover, the rider will get a step closer to become a Super Randonneure and an opportunity to take part in one of the oldest and most coveted cycling event in the world, the Paris Brest Paris event, held in France once every 4 years.
WE R Cycling (WERC) an affiliated club of Audax Club Parisian and Audax India Randonneurs (AIR), is authorised to organise BRM’s and Audax events in Mangalore. For more information about the events and the club, please visit www.wercycling.com
