Colourful Procession highlighting Tradition and Culture of DK Marks Karavali Utsav
Mangaluru: To mark the Karavali Utsav the district administration held a colourful procession from Nehru Maidan to Karavali Utsav Grounds Lalbagh here on December 22.
The colourful procession was inaugurated by the Minister for Food and Civil Services U T Khader by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries. More than 76 troupes are participating in the procession from Nehru Maidan to the Karavali grounds.
Addressing the gathering minister U T Khader said, “Karavali Utsav is a meaningful festival. Tradition and culture of Dakshina Kannada is very meaningful. By organizing Utsav’s we are highlighting our tradition and Culture to the national and international level. Let this week-long festival be a successful one. I also would like to thank the organizers for the wonderful arrangements. I urge the public to be a part of this celebration and make it a successful one. Students should actively take part in cultural programmes to know more about the culture and tradition of our district.”
Addressing the gathering MLA Moideen Bava said, “I am very happy to be here to inaugurate the Karavali Utsav along with the Minister. To pursue education students come from various states and countries. Our country has unity in diversity, let this Utsav bring people from all walks of life closer and let harmony and brotherhood prevail.”
DC Sasikanth Senthil and Harikrishna Punaroor also spoke on the occasion. ADC Kumar, MCC Commissioner, ZP CEO Dr M R Ravi, information officer Khader Shah and others were also present. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura compered the programme.
