Colourful Procession with Attractive Tableaux Marks Dedication of Suvarna Gopura at Krishna Math

Udupi: The inauguration of the ten-day long ‘Suvarna Gopura Samarpanotsava’ program began at Krishna Math on Friday. As a part of the dedication of the Suvarna Gopura and Brahmakumbhabhisheka ceremony to Lord Krishna, a colourful procession was taken out in the city on Saturday evening.

The colourful procession was inaugurated by Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math along with Sri Satyatma Teertha Swamiji of Sri Uttaradi Math, Dr G Shanker – President of Shamili Trust, Dr H S Ballal – Vice Chancellor of Manipal University, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Manohar Shetty, and others.

The Swarna Kalasha was brought out in a colourful procession from Jodukatte to Krishna Math. The procession passed through Taluk Office Road, Diana Circle, K M Marg, Service Bus-stand, Kidiyoor Road, City Bus-stand, Kalsanka, Parking area of Krishna Math, Vidyodaya Road, and finally culminated at Car Street where Sri Vidyadeesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Palimar Math welcomed the procession.

Folk and cultural troupes such as ‘chande’, ‘Nasik Band’, ‘folk art troupe’, ‘Thattiraya’, ‘Gombe Kunitha’, and several other Bhajan troupes reflected long-standing traditions and displayed their artforms. There were several artefacts of colourful birds too.

The ceremony to dedicate the Suvarna Gopura to Lord Krishna will be held on June 6, and the Brahmakalshotsava ceremony will held on June 9.

On June 2, Vishnusahasranamapura Laksharchane and Lakshmishobhane will be organised. On June 9, the Jnana-Vijnana programme is scheduled and ISRO scientist Diwaker will be addressing the gathering.

‘Gau Sammellan’ will also be organised on the same occasion and the Pejawar Swamiji will inaugurate the Sammellan. ‘Krishna Rathotsava’ will also be organized in the evening.

On June 3, programmes like ‘Lakshabilvarchane’ and ‘Rudrabhisheka’ are scheduled. On June 4, ‘Sri Krishan Kavya Sammellan will be organised. ‘Hasiru Horekanike’ is scheduled for the evening. The Jaganathpuri Sri Ganapati Maharaj Digyasingh Deb will be the chief guest of the evening. On June 5, ‘Gosti’ will be held and Tulasi saplings will be distributed. Gujrat Gayakwad Maharaj Kumar Sangram Singh is said to be the chief guest of the event.

The dedication of Suvarna Gopura will be held on June 6. In the beginning, the installation of ‘Shikara Pratiste’ will be held. The Ashta Math Swamijis’ will perform ‘Sahasrajata Kalashabhisheka’ on that day. Scion of the erstwhile Mysuru Royal Family Yaduveera Krishandutta Wodeyar will also be in attendance.

Tanjavur Rajashree Babaji Rajasaheb Bhosle will be the guest on June 7, and Mayeepadi’s Danamartandaverma Raja will be the chief guest on June 8.

The Brahmakumbhabhisheka will be held on June 9. On that day, the Mahasnapana ritual will be held. Padmanabhadasa Tiruvankur Maharaja from Thiruvananthapuram will be chief guest. On the same day, Suvarnamohotsava and Avabhrata will be held to honor Lord Krishna.
