Committed towards Transparency and Development – Madhwaraj
Udupi: “I am committed towards providing transparency in the system and promoting development,” said Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Fisheries, Youth Affairs and Sports and district minister in-charge. He was speaking after receiving public felicitation on his induction to the state cabinet at a programme organised by the Udupi Block Congress at Town Hall, Ajjarkad here on June 23.
“I have adopted the principles and values of Brahmashree Narayan Guru in my life and will continue to follow them. People of all communities irrespective of their religion have voted for me due to which I won by a huge margin. I have promised to promote corruption free governance and till date I have not been involved in corruption,” said Madhwaraj.
He further said that INC president Sonia Gandhi had played a prominent role in inducting him to the cabinet. “During my earlier visits to Delhi, she had assured of inducting me into the cabinet and she has kept her assurance. Senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Oscar Fernandes together with CM Siddaramaiah have extended their support.”
Manorama Madhwaraj served as a minister in Devraj Urs’ cabinet, which ushered a social revolution, and now his son has been inducted to Siddaramaiah’s cabinet, and Siddaramaiah is known for his accomplished reforms in uplifting the society.
“For the first time in the history of Karnataka, a fisherman has been inducted as a Minister for Fisheries. I have ordered officials to come up with dimensional changes in the system rather than sticking to the old ideas. I will effectively work towards the development of the district together with senior leaders and legislators Vinay Kumar Sorake, Gopal Poojary, Prathapchandra Shetty and others,” he added.
Former Karkal MLA Gopal Bhandary and KPCC Member MA Gafoor also spoke on the occasion.
Udupi Block Congress President Satish Amin Padukere welcomed the gathering. CMC Councilor Ramesh Kanchan delivered the vote of thanks.
Prior to the programme, homage was paid to the victims of the Trasi accident and another individual who drowned in Nittur.
