Commotion Between MLC Ivan and BJP Workers at Jeppu Polling Centre
Mangaluru: Both the BJP and Congress candidates including MLC Ivan D’Souza were standing at the entrance of the Infant Mary Higher Primary School, Jeppu and requesting the voters to cast their votes in favour of them on November 12.
When MLC Ivan D’Souza was standing at the entrance and requesting the voters to cast their votes in favour of the Congress candidate BJP voters objected to Ivan’s presence near the polling centre while Ivan blamed that BJP workers other than those from the ward were present and creating problems. A commotion followed between MLC Ivan and BJP workers saying that the elected representatives should not be present near the polling centres. If Ivan will not vacate the place, they said that they would also call the MP and MLAs to the spot to influence the voters to cast their vote in favour of their candidate. As Ivan was not ready to move from the spot, the commotion continued between BJP workers and Ivan.
Later the police arrived and sent everyone 100 meters away from the polling centre.
ACP Goakar along with other police officials reached the spot and informed both the BJP and Congress leaders to allow the voters to cast their votes freely. Later the situation calmed down and the voting process continued smoothly.
BJP leaders Nandan Mallya, Punith Kottari, Joylus, Capt Brijesh Chowta and others were also present.
