Moodbidri: Maulana Ebrahim Muhammed Shafi Saheb (80), a community leader from Puttige, passed away at home in Kana Alangar earlier this week. He was keeping ill health for a brief period.
For many years, he had served in the local mosque attending to religious duties. He was popularly known as ‘Shafi Maulana’ in community and social circles.
He is survived by three daughters and five sons, including journalist Abdussalam Puttige of Madhyama Publications, Abdul Rauf Puttige of Vishwas Bawa Builders, Lokayukta SP Abdul Ahad Puttige and entrepreneur Abdul Ala Puttige.
