Complaint under Drugs and Magic Remedies Objectionable Advertisements Act to ADC
Mangaluru: I am herein enclosing a copy of the complaint made to the ADC of Mangaluru under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (objectionable advertisements) act, 1954. Though the Government of India has specifically banned advertisements under that the product has been advertised to be a preventive/cure for covid19. The ad cleverly says Corona and not COVID-19!

Dear Sir,
Sub: Complaint under Drugs and Magic Remedies (objectionable advertisements) act, 1954.
With ref. to the above, I am bringing to your kind attention an ad for prevention cure of COVID-19 by one individual along with the picture of the shop where it is allegedly sold which comes under your jurisdiction.
Since advertising any preventive/cure for the said is an offence under the act as declared by govt. of India, I request you to kindly take action on the above immediately.
Here is a quote for the same, which is for your kind information:
“The concerned Ayurvedic drug manufacturing company has been informed that such advertisements of drugs including Ayurvedic medicines are regulated under the provisions of Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 and Rules thereunder and the directives issued by the Central Government in the wake of COVID outbreak”.
Since the ad is likely to mislead people who are infected and also lull people into a false sense of security thinking that they may not get infected if they consume this and hence not observe precautions and get infected I request you to take immediate action.
