Complaints Pouring in against Auto drivers Fleecing Passengers at Central Railway Station
- Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar Inspects Prepaid Autorickshaw counter
Mangaluru: After a number of complaints against auto drivers fleecing the passengers at the Railway station poured in, the Commissioner of Police Chandra Sekhar along with his team visited the Central Railway station, here on May 6.
After inspecting the auto prepaid system in the Central Railway station, speaking to mediapersons, Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said, “We are getting many complaints against the Prepaid Autorickshaw counter, we have also received many complaints during our phone-in programme on every Friday. The traffic department along with the RTO have improved the Autorickshaw prepaid system. Even though the Prepaid Autorickshaw counter already existed, some auto drivers were looting the passengers by charging excessive fares. We want the system to run smoothly. The Prepaid Autorickshaw counter is given on a contract basis by the RTO. The fares to specific places have been displayed and justice should be done with the passengers”.
“If any of the auto drivers charge more than the displayed fares. We will take action against them under MV act and cancel their licenses”, said Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar.
Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar further said, “The counters should be computerized for efficient operations. An orientation programme will be held for the auto drivers by the Traffic department. Auto drivers should not fleece the passengers who come from other districts and states. Passengers should not repent for coming to our district.”
DCP Crime and Traffic Dr Sanjeev Patil, RTO G S Hegde and others were also present.
