Udupi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Udupi on Tuesday, May 1 afternoon to participate in the poll campaign rally organised at the MGM Grounds.

Modi was received at Adi-Udupi helipad by Priyanka Mary Francis deputy commissioner of Udupi, Laxman Nimbargi Supretendent of Police Udupi district and Mattar Rathnakar Hegde president of Udupi district BJP.

Narendra Modi arrived at the Udupi district after completing the election campaign rally at Santhemarahalli in Chamarajanagar district.

Addressing a campaign rally Narendra Modi recalled that the BJP the majority in the elections to the Udupi municipal council which was the first victory for the party in South India. Udupi is not only a land of Temples but also the land of banking. From this land, the country got new energy and direction in banking.

He accused the state’s Congress government, which he claimed was steeped in corruption, of thwarting the Centre’s efforts for development. Hitting out at the Congress president, Modi also said that those currently leading the party had “no understanding” of history and the country’s legacy.

Further, Modi said that respect is very important in politics. The JD(S) leader and former PM Devegowda is always given due respect by him. However, Modi said that Rahul Gandhi didn’t accord due respect to Devegowda. He said that people of India should ensure that Mahatma Gandhi’s dream that Congress is disbanded should be fulfilled. People have ensured in all parts of the country that the Congress is demolished and now it is the chance for Karnataka.

Highlighting the political violence in the state Modi said that many BJP workers have been killed for just opposing the ideology of the ruling party in the state. He said that people who do politics of violence should be rejected.

“It is extremely shameful that the Congress government allowed violence in the state and several BJP workers were murdered.

The opposition BJP has been holding the Congress responsible for the murders of party workers in the state’s coastal region in the last five years.

“While on the one hand, the BJP is talking about the ‘ease of doing business’ in our country, the Congress believes in ‘ease of doing murder’. This is the kind of culture they have developed,” Modi said.

Accusing the government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of allowing the “sand mafia” to operate in the state, Modi appealed to the people to vote for change and development.

“Those who loot cannot remain in power and must be ousted,” Modi said, adding that the Congress had promoted intolerance and violence.

We opened bank accounts for the poor. Over 31 crores accounts have been opened under the Jan Dhan Yojana. If the Congress had ensured their bank accounts, the poor would have contributed so much to the economy.

In Karnataka there is no law, there is no order. When the Lokayukta is not safe, how can the common people be safe? The sand mafias are operating in Karnataka and the government is giving protection to the criminals. The state government hasn’t done enough for Udupi and is only willing to do obstruction politics, he said.

Through his 40-minute speech in Hindi, the Prime Minister addressed hundreds of people, including party cadres, gathered on a sunny afternoon.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje, BJP leader Uday Kumar Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, Kota Srinivas Poojary, Dinakar Babu, Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty and ohters were present.

Has anyone wondered why people of the Gujarat State are converging upon Karnataka, and why Mr. Narendra Modi, being the Prime Minister, can make such derogatory remarks ”Karnataka has no law, no order”, and spread hate through his speeches. Karnataka is better than UP, Bihar, and Gujarat all put together where law and order and harmony and peace is concerned Why are BJP and Congress acting like two powers at war in one country, India. Would it be well if BJP ruled one set of Indians, and Congress ruled another set, and mind their own business, and be at peace.… Read more »
