Congress Believes in Real Hinduism – Ugrappa

Udupi: BJP is full of fake Hindus. They use Hinduism to fool people and to win the elections. We are the real, tolerant, inclusive Hindus. We love our religion and respect the faith of others, said MLC Ugrappa. He was speaking at a press meet held at the Congress Bhavan on Sunday, February 11.

The State Assembly elections are nearing and the BJP is trying to mislead the people by their fake Hindutva. Visiting temples and religious traditions are every person’s personal matter and no one can question that. Congress believes on Vivekananda’s real Hindutva culture and we respect other religions also, he added.

The party High command has appointed me and MLC Veena Achaiah as KPCC observers for Udupi district. We have received petitions from the leaders and activists from 5 assembly constituencies of the Udupi district. There is no any confusion in Udupi district in the selection of ticket. In Udupi, Kaup and Byndoor assembly constituencies represented by the Congress MLA’s, the party has already recognised the sitting MLA’s as candidates for the coming elections. From the Kundapur Constituency the supporters and party leaders have proposed Rakesh Malli’s name and in Karkala Constituency three names namely former MLA Gopal Bhandary, former chief minister Veerappa Moily’s Son Harsha Moily and district Congress vice president Muniyalu Uday Shetty’s names are proposed by the party supporters. We will submit our report to the KPCC and the party high command will take the final decision, he added.

The Congress party will get a comfortable majority to return to power on its own in the coming Assembly elections in Karnataka. BJP is propagating the “agenda of hate” in the southern state as they don’t have any substantive issues to raise. “Karnataka, we are going to win for sure. The ground reality is that the BJP is getting desperate. That is why we are seeing the hate agenda which they are trying to impose in Karnataka.

The Narendra Modi-led NDA government has failed in fulfilling the promises which they had made before the Lok Sabha elections. “Narendra Modi had assured before the Lok Sabha polls that he will bring ‘Acche Din’ in the country. It is unfortunate that even after so many years as the Prime Minister, Modi has failed to fulfill the pre-poll promises. The BJP has fooled the public to get votes.

Prime Minister Modi had promised that he would get back the black money and deposit Rs 15 lakh in the bank account of every citizen. But till now a single paise has not been deposited, he said.

The union government has hiked the prices of essential commodities. The middle class have been affected the most due to the move and the people are feeling cheated. The union government is not taking any action to control the price of essential commodities. Everything is getting expensive. While the Congress has always worked for uniting the society, the BJP’s aim has been to divide the society into religious lines, he alleged.

When the Congress national leader called Narendra Modi as “Neech”, all the BJP leaders started to criticise the Congress leaders. The same prime minister had called the Siddaramaiah government as “Nanga Naach” and “10 percent government”. The Prime minister should show the proof for his allegations which he will never get.

“When you have information about corruption prevailing in the state, why not dismiss the government by invoking Article 356 of the constitution and initiate criminal cases against those involved in corruption?”, Ugrappa questioned.

If the prime minister has information of corruption, he should present it with facts before the people of the country. Modi lacks the statesmanship which all the prime ministers in the past maintained throughout their tenure, he said.
