Congress condemns killing of its Haryana leader
New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday condemned the killing of its Haryana leader Vikas Chaudhary, saying the law and order situation in the state has been deteriorating under the Bharatiya Janata Party rule.
Chaudhary, 42, who was considered close to state Congress Chief Ashok Tanwar, was shot dead by two assailants outside a gym in Faridabad on Thursday. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Party President Rahul Gandhi called the incident “shameful and sad”.
“The incident is a mirror to the deteriorating law and order situation in the state,” he tweeted.
Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala blamed Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for the rise in crimes in the state and asked for his resignation.
“There should be an independent inquiry of the murder and the culprits should be given serious punishment,” Surjewala tweeted.
