Congress Councillor assaults Youths at Gundibail

Udupi: A Congress Councillor of the Udupi City municipality assaulted youths in Gundibailu here on Sunday, February 18.

According to the police Gundibailu congress councillor Ramesh Poojary assaulted the youths namely Ganesh Acharya and Pranesh Acharya over a property issue.

Ganesh Acharya is a resident of Parkala and his father owns some property at Gundibailu where the Udupi city municipal corporation has undertaken road development work. Ganesh Acharya had earlier requested the Municipal Authorities not to cut down the trees in his property. But Municipal authority cut all the trees without informing the property owner Ganesh Acharya. On Sunday when he visited his property he saw that all the trees were cut down. When Ganesh Acharya questioned to local municipality member Ramesh Poojary, he and his associates used foul language and assaulted Ganesh and his brother Pranesh with weapons. Seriously injured Ganesh Acharya was admitted to the Government Hospital Udupi.

A case has been registered against the Congress councillor Ramesh Poojary and 30 others in the Udupi Town Police station.
