Congress Govt Sanctioned Rs 5300 Crore to MCC during my Tenure – Siddaramaiah

Mangaluru: “The Congress has already sanctioned Rs 5300 crore for the Mangaluru City corporation which no other government has given so far. When I was the CM I had sanctioned Rs 2500 crore for the development of the South Constituency and Rs 1460 crore for the North constituency. A total of Rs 5300 crore has been sanctioned for the development of MCC. BJP knows only to lie to the people and lies is the other name of BJP”, said former CM Siddaramaiah responding to a question about BJP’s claim of sanctioning Rs 200 crore to MCC during Yeddyurappa’s term, at the DCC office here on November 6.

During the release of the BJP Manifesto the district president of BJP Sanjeev Matandoor said that when the BJP government was in power and Yeddyurappa was the CM, he has sanctioned Rs 200 crore to the MCC for the road development work and the roads were concreted. But after the Congress came to power, the development of Mangaluru was neglected. Responding to the question Siddaramaiah said, “Let the BJP come up with facts and figures, let they tell how much funds their government has released for the development of Mangaluru”.

When asked about the statement of Poojary saying that BJP will win the MCC elections, Siddaramaiah said, “No comments, instead ask questions related to Manifesto”.

When asked about celebrating Tipu Jayanti, Gundu Rao said, “Our leaders will take part in the Jayanti’s but we will not hold Jayantis officially. The High court has not said not to celebrate Tipu Jayanti”.

When asked about forming the ward committees by the BJP, Siddaramaiah said, “BJP has never kept their promises. We will constitute ward committees which is a promise through this manifesto. This time we will keep our promise made in our manifesto, during the last elections we did not promise in our election manifesto of forming ward committees”.

“We had formed the coalition government only to stop BJP from coming to power in the state. Everyone has the right to speak to anyone, If HDK speaks to Yeddyurappa it is his wish,” said Siddaramaiah responding to a question.
