Congress leader Ismail Murder Case, 7 held
Sullia: Sources revealed that the accused in the murder of Congress leader Ismail Nelyamajalu (52), have been arrested by the CCB police on October 3. The CCB police have arrested 7 accused in Ismail Nelyamajalu murder case. Out of the 7 arrested 3 of them are contract killers.
The arrested have been identified as Abdul Rasheed alias Munna (32) from Ammunje, Abbas alias Ibnu Abbas (32) a resident of Suratkal, Ummer Farooq A K (32) from Kedila, Rahiman alias Rahim Bellare, Yakoob Bejai, Farooq Bellare and Suhail Nandavar.
On September 23, after the prayers, while Ismail was coming out from the Ivarnadu Mosque and walking towards his car, the group attacked Ismail with machetes. Severely injured Ismail died on the spot.
Speaking to the mediapersons SP Bhushan said that in the Ismail murder case, we had formed three teams for investigation. Within 10 days of the crime, our teams have succeeded in nabbing the accused. During interrogation, the accused revealed that there was a land dispute between Rahman Bellare’s family and the Bellare Zakariya Jumma Masjid administration board for many years. The victim Ismail was supporting the Jumma Masjid administration board. In this connection, there was enmity between Rahman and Ismail.
Ismail and Yakoob Bejai were friends, Ismail had even helped Yakoob to sell his property, but there was some misunderstanding in the deal which led to conflict between Yakoob and Ismail. Later Yakoob and Rahman decided to finish Ismail, they met Ummer Farooq in Mangaluru and prepared a master plan. In return, Rahman and Yakoob assured to pay cash as well as a share in the disputed land. After receiving a part of the payment from Yakoob and Rahman, Ummer Farooq met the contract killers to carry out the plan.
SP Further said, “From many days, the contract killers were following Ismail in a white Ritz car. Since Ismail was a well-known person he was holding a licensed revolver with him. They had attempted to kill Ismail several times but had failed in their attempt. Finally, the contract killers found that Ismail goes all alone to the Ivarnadu Mosque for Friday prayers. On September 23, all On the three contract killers followed Ismail till the Mosque and while Ismail went to pray they came to where Ismail’s car was parked and waited there to finish him. When Ismail came near his car, one of the contract killers slit Ismail’s throat without giving him a chance to use his revolver. The killer did the job very professional without giving the victim a chance to fight back”.
Under the able guidance of SP Bhushan Borase and the Additional SP Dr Vedamurthy, the operation was carried out by ASP Rishyanth IPS, DySP Ravish, police inspector DCIB, Amanullah, Krishnayya, Cheluvayya PSI Bellare, Chandrashekhar, and Ravi. The team will be rewarded with cash and appreciation certificates for the job well done.
Additional SP Dr Vedamurthy, ASP Riyshyanth, DySP Ravish and police inspector DCIB, Amanullah were also present.
