Congress leaders are double 420s: C T Ravi

Huvinahadagali: BJP State general secretary C T Ravi hit back at the Congress leaders for stating that Sriramulu is an expert in IPC sections like 420, by stating that they themselves were double 420s for first criticising the JD(S) leaders humiliatingly before the elections, and later for the sake of clinging on to the power, bowing before the same JD(S) leaders.

Addressing an election rally held in Huvinahadagali on Sunday, he said, the Congress leaders had kept BJP from coming to power in order to ensure that the skeletons do not tumble out of their dark chambers. The people of the district should give a fitting reply to such deceitful politics, he requested.

“Siddaramaiah once said that Deve Gowda marginalised such leaders as M P Prakash and PGR Sindhia, and tried to finish him off too politically, but somehow he managed to escape and become the chief minister later. Siddarmaiah had likened Deve Gowda to Dhratarashtra. The very same Siddaramaiah abandoned his self-respect and is hobnobbing with them. He is like a snake with two heads,” he said, referring to the popular Kannada proverb.

H D Kumaraswamy had declared his assets at Rs 3.50 crore in 2004. The assets increased to Rs 58 crore in 2008, to Rs 123 crore in 2013, and Rs 195 crore in 2018. He should tell the people of the State what crops he had grown and what methods he had adopted so as to amass such wealth. “I am not alleging that he is corrupt. I want the information so that the farmers, who had been reeling under drought, could adopt the same methods to grow crops,” he said with sarcasm.

“This election is a matter of self-respect for the people of the district. They should tell Congress what stuff they are made of. They should teach the people who are dividing the society in the name of caste, and elect J Shanta to the Lok Sabha,” he requested.

‘Cong is sinking ship’

“Since Congress is a sinking ship it is finding it difficult to find a candidate. They are fielding Ugrappa, who was unable to win the election at his own backyard, here. They could not find a candidate in Shivamogga too,” ridiculed MP Sanganna Karadi.
