Congress Leaders Condole Former Minister and JD(S) leader Amarnath Shetty’s Death
Mangaluru: “Former minister JD(S) Amarnath Shetty was a very simple and humble person. He has done a lot of development work in Moodbidri. He was very popular in Moodbidri and was popularly known as Amaranna. It is a great loss to society. Being a minister he has done a lot of development work that the entire district will remember him. May his soul rest in peace”, said DCC president Harish Kumar on January 27.
MLC Ivan D’Souza said, “Amarnath Shetty a senior leader and former minister passed away on January 27 which is a great loss for Dakshina Kannada. We have lost a great and able leader which is a great loss for the District. In 1994, Amarnath Shetty had given a ticket from the Kaup constituency. If I have grown in politics it is because of Amarnath Shetty. I was the district president because of Amarnath Shetty. Amarnath Shetty has encouraged me a lot and his encouragement made me what I am today”.
Ivan D’Souza further said, “Amarnath Shetty was visiting every party worker’s house without any discrimination. Even being in the JD(S) he was attending programmes of other parties. He was a very humble and down to earth person. Amarnath Shetty was responsible for the development of the Mulky – Moodbidri constituency, he earned popularity through his development work. He has served the country well and we condole his death. Let his work will be the inspiration for others”.
The final rites of Amarnath Shetty will be held at 3:00 pm in Moodbidri.
