Congress legislators have lost faith in their own government – Shobha Karandlaje

Udupi: “Congress legislators have lost faith in their own government,” alleged Shoba Karandlaje, MP of Udupi-Chickmanglur LS constituency. She was addressing a press meet over the completion of 3 years of Congress government in Karnataka at the Dr. V S Acharya Auditorium here, on May 17.

According to her, senior Congress leaders are saying that the Siddaramaiah led Congress government is the worst government they have witnessed in the state. This government has promoted only corruption and not development. The Chief Minister is not having any control over his ministers and government officials. Efforts held to promote transparent administration seems to be in vain.

The government has failed in tackling the drinking water issue in the state. The funds for the completed works for providing drinking water have not been released. Contractors are not willing to participate in tenders fearing delay in payments. The central government has released Rs 1520 crore to tackle the drought situation in the state, but the government is not effectively responding to the farmers and people.

“The government’s Anna Bhagya scheme is helping Congress leaders to illegally transport rice to other states. The milk powder provided under Ksheera Bhagya scheme is not fit for consumption.”

“When BJP talks about development, Siddaramaiah diverts the issues. He has not consulted the MPs from Karnataka since December 3, 2013. Ministers are not touring the districts and holding review meetings. They are also not available in the legislative assembly.”

The Chief Minister should soon intervene and initiate steps to tackle the drinking water situation in the state, she said. “The central government has held every initiative in protecting the nation and also wiping out corruption from the system. The India-Bangladesh border of 3000 km will be fenced.”

A Detailed Project Report will give a clear picture on construction of tunnel in Agumbe (Maple-Teerthahalli national highway). Discussion is on for a railway line connecting Sringeri Karakal-Chickmanglur. The doubling and electrification of Konkan railway lane is also under process, she added.

BJP District President Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde, Bola Sadhashiv Shetty, Mattatu Rathnkar Hegde, ZP Member Geethanjali Suvarna and others were present.
